Having good oral health begins with having clean teeth. That’s why we recommend that you: (a) Brush thoroughly at least twice a day; (b) Use the right tools, including a soft-bristled or a powered toothbrush and a suitable toothpaste; (c) Use good technique; (d) Keep your tools clean and dry; and (e) Keep your toothbrush in good condition, including replacing it every three to four months.

Flossing regularly can also be very important for your oral health. When flossing, we recommend that you: (a) Use a proper length of floss, don’t skimp; (b) Be gentle and use a rubbing motion to get in-between teeth; (c) Clean one tooth at a time; (d) Use the fresh floss areas after each tooth is cleaned; (e) Use an inter-dental cleaner for times when you can’t floss.

In addition to your routine of daily flossing and brushing, you might want to consider a mouth rinse and an oral irrigator that directs streams of water at your teeth, which can help dislodge otherwise stuck particles. Remember, do not use toothpicks or other objects that could injure your gums.

This is often caused by bacteria in the mouth and on the back of the tongue. Other non-dental causes include certain foods, smoking, alcohol, hormonal changes, or hunger. To combat this, start with meticulous oral hygiene and incorporate tongue scraping into your brushing routine. Next, check with your dental professional to determine if there is an underlying oral issue, such as gum disease.

A properly fitted, custom mouth guard can reduce the risk of injury to your teeth and soft tissues (lips, tongue, and gums). They are much more durable than boil & bite mouth guards, and do not affect your ability to speak or breathe. Any mouth guard can offer protection when playing sports, but a high-quality one, like the Proform line we use at PROdh, offers the best protection.
