FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
No, it would not affect your relationship whatsoever. And, we actually recommend that you still see your dentist on a regular basis for an examination and any prescribed x-rays. Remember, we believe in working together with your dentist to meet all of your oral health needs. (If you are currently without a dentist’s services, we can recommend you to the ones we work with in the local area).
If I see Prodhyg for my cleanings, will that affect my relationship with my dentist?
What will Prodhyg's services cost me?
Each individual’s needs are different and the fees depend on the services being provided and the time required. Some of our rates are listed on our services page — most are up to 30 per cent lower than the current dental fee guide — but we recommend you contact us to arrange for a personalized, no-charge consultation in order to get confirmed, customized pricing. Remember, we also offer additional discounts for seniors, students, and groups/companies.
Dental hygiene services are covered by most insurance companies, including HSO and ODSP. But, we advise you to contact your insurance carrier for clarification of coverage prior to your appointment. We are happy to assist you in the process.
Will my insurance cover going to an independent hygienst?
What if I have a medical condition?
After you fill out a detailed intake form, PROdh will review your medical history to ensure any conditions you have will not be adversely affected by dental hygiene treatment. If conditions exist that may be of concern, PROdhyg will take precautions, make the appropriate referrals, and assess the condition of your head, neck, tongue, gums, teeth, and other areas of your mouth. If anything unusual is detected or that would warrant further investigation and suspension of treatment, we will then refer you to the appropriate medical professional.
Do you provide teeth whitening services? Is teeth whitening safe?
Yes, at PROdhyg, we offer a very reliable and effective teeth whitening service. For patients who desire whiter, brighter teeth, we create a custom-fit tray and take-home gel option in which we will teach you how to use and get maximum results.
Health Canada reports that if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have mouth or gum disease, have enamel erosion, have teeth stained by medication, or are allergic to peroxide, you should not use teeth whiteners. For those who are suitable candidates for teeth whitening, Health Canada reports that there is no concern about possible adverse effects on tooth structure or enamel hardness. If you would like to find out more, please contact PROdhyg for your personalized, no-charge assessment.
